isolated radio signal with no IR counterpart

There is a strong radio signal as if from a compact source but it has no counterpart in IR emission, being about half way between two sources. Are #isolated radio signals like this common? Might it be due to radio emission from a point-like (stellar) source within our own galaxy? Are there false-positive radio signals with sources within our own galaxy that we should be watching out for?

Hi WizardHowl,
There are several possibilities for sources here, for example a galaxy that is too faint to appear in the IR survey might still have strong enough radio emission to be detected.
