diffuse source

  The radio and IR sources are both large, #diffuse and not apparently regular in shape. If the radio signals are from energetic shock fronts, could a galactic merger produce radio emission on this scale?

  I'm inclined to believe that the radio is a background object. The IR is featureless (because of the colour stretch) so it's difficult to say something about it.
