Layer matching accuracy?

  • shervinm by shervinm

    Hello there,

Every now and then I come accoss a radio source which has a very faint infrared source underneath BUT has a very nicely matching infrared source just nearby (something like this case). what I was wondering about was, are the two layers of data exactly pixel to pixel matched?, or could it be that there are minor scaling and shifts between the data layers, hence causing one actual source to show up as two by being a little shifted? (just want to know how to go about this cases)
(yes I do understand that a bright source in one wavelength does not necessarily mean a similarly bright or similarly shaped source in the other wavelength)

    Regards

Yes, the 2 images have been sized and pixel matched to the coordinate centres of the radio source in the middle. There are occasional shifts by a pixel or so. But if we're using this current image/field of view as an example, the presence of the bright IR source next to the bright radio peak is not because of a pixel matching inaccuracy.

    Hope this helps. 😃
