TWO central IR sources?

  • JeanTate by JeanTate

The apparent center of the complex radio object is between two separate, distinct PSF-like IR sources. Is this a misalignment? Or do the pair of jets (and lobes) originate in an IR source too faint to be detected?

Also: is this an FR I or FR II source?

This is an FRII, with the hot spots near the end. We've never encountered an object with two central IR sources, although sometimes we will see a double black hole system, each with its own pair of jets (rare).
In this case, I'm guessing that neither of the IR objects are associated with the radio source. SDSS didn't offer any further guidance, except that one of these is much redder than the other.
