ARG0000dll - host a super-giant elliptical? or a merger? or ...

  • JeanTate by JeanTate

At z_ph 0.544±0.0304/0.558±0.0970, the host SDSS J143631.89+541524.2 must be pretty big to be extended in SDSS; does its odd shape mean it's a merger? Or ...?

Boilerplate: SDSS image per http://skyservice.pha.jhu.edu/DR10/ImgCutout/getjpeg.aspx, FIRST (red) contours derived from the FITS file produced using SkyView with Python code described in this RGZ Talk thread. Image center (J2000.0) is the galaxy SDSS J143631.89+541524.2; "z_ph" its SDSS photometric redshift.

Do you mean the radio has an odd shape? The West lobe of the radio source does have a weird shape but I would attribute that to the noise of the observations and not the structure of the source.

Actually, I meant the SDSS image ... I'll get the FITS and see if I can show more clearly what I think is there ... (now if we had an HST image ... )
