ARG0003afk - an unusual doublelobe host

  • JeanTate by JeanTate

SDSS J144733.14+072451.4 has a z_sp 0.313 dead and red spectrum, but beyond the fiber aperture it looks rather like a disturbed Sa of Sb galaxy, with faint, rather loose green arms (at this redshift, the normally blue spiral arms would indeed look green in SDSS images):

And the core of this otherwise rather typical doublelobe seems off-center, or distorted:

Boilerplate: SDSS image per http://skyservice.pha.jhu.edu/DR10/ImgCutout/getjpeg.aspx, FIRST (red) contours derived from the FITS file produced using SkyView with Python code described in this RGZ Talk thread. Image center (J2000.0) is the galaxy SDSS J144733.14+072451.4; "z_sp" its SDSS spectroscopic redshift.
