ARG0001182/ARG000117l - giant with odd-looking host

  • JeanTate by JeanTate

z_ph 0.437±0.0245/0.441±0.0688 SDSS J170256.86+421731.7 is a very strange object; an overlap? merger? distorted spiral??

And it may be the host of a pretty big giant (doublelobe):

According to NED, B3 1701+423 (z_sp 0.476) is somewhere else:

Boilerplate: SDSS image per http://skyservice.pha.jhu.edu/DR10/ImgCutout/getjpeg.aspx, FIRST (red) contours derived from the FITS file produced using SkyView with Python code described in this RGZ Talk thread. Image center (J2000.0) is the galaxy SDSS J170256.86+421731.7; "z_ph" its SDSS photometric redshift.
