ARG00029si - giant, disrupted z=0.3 spiral as host of faint doublelobes?

  • JeanTate by JeanTate

SDSS J121431.51+212540.6, z_sp 0.307, seems to embedded in a vast, faint, cloud; remnants of a recent major merger? faintly visible non-bulge parts of a huge disk galaxy? or just noise?

    Here are its (bent) doublelobes:

Boilerplate: SDSS image per http://skyservice.pha.jhu.edu/DR10/ImgCutout/getjpeg.aspx, FIRST (red) contours derived from the FITS file produced using SkyView with Python code described in this RGZ Talk thread. Image center (J2000.0) is the galaxy SDSS J121431.51+212540.6; "z_sp" its SDSS spectroscopic redshift.
