Notice the even horizontal striation patterns all along this image from top to bottom, they appear evenly spaced, as if ridges from some type of background energy. Like waves in a pool. . . .

This is normal in radio 'images' which are derived from the kind of survey being used in this image (ATLAS). They are a kind of artifact, and are produced in all such images which originate from 'interferometry' (this is where the 'image' is built up by combining signals from many separate radio 'dishes'*, spread out in an array).
The 'shape' of the array of dishes determines the kind of artifact you see in the resulting image; in the FIRST images, for example, the artifacts take the form of a triangular mesh, which is caused by the fact that the dishes are arranged in a Y shape.
