Spilt or merge of galaxies

  I call this a split because there is a lot going on. The contours showing perhaps two galaxies however other IR images without contuors are showing. Can this be a before or after merger or split of galaxies?

  Because there's a bright star in the way (within our own galaxy), it's hard to say what's happening here. Perhaps the two radio sources are from a single host galaxy; parhaps they're from different, unrelated, galaxies.
