ARG0002iqj - strange cluster environment, gravitational lens?
-
by JeanTate
z_sp 0.511 SDSS J150510.82+172042.5 seems to be host of a #doublelobe (but it may be a strange #core-#lobe*), and a giant elliptical in/near the center of a rich cluster. The immediate environment is really strange; perhaps it's 'just' a lot of galaxies with many mergers, but perhaps it's also the cluster lensing a background galaxy?

An especially strange thing: the host appears to be the 'blue-green fluff' to the SE of the cD elliptical!
Another #opticalradiooffset? Or somehow related to the gravitational lensing (if it is that)?
The image in this post was created from sources, and using methods, described in this RGZ Talk post. The object at the center of the image is SDSS J150510.82+172042.5
