ARG00037ky, unusual doublelobe, host?

  • ChrisMolloy by ChrisMolloy

Here's ARG00037ky, a #doublelobe. As per the ARG comments left, it appears that this #unusual #doublelobe is due to the host having switched of ejecting the radio emission, and there is also the possibility that these lobes had been precessing in the past, hence the extended emission positioned closer to the potential hosts. The contour overlay below is centred on SDSS J135647.15+082419.3, which is east of the ARG co-ordinates listed left.

The contour overlay image in this post was created from sources, and using methods, described in this RGZ Talk
    thread.
First in red, Wise band 1 lime green.

A possible host for the emission could be SDSS J135647.15+082419.3, which is in the middle of the First lobes, and positioned in the centre of the ir source in-between this emission. This galaxy has a z_ph=0.399 ± 0.0341, and an ALLWISE reference, ALLWISE J135647.12+082418.9.

There are radio references in NED for SDSS J135647.30+082428.0, which is slightly NNE of SDSS J135647.15+082419.3. This galaxy has a z_ph=0.303 ± 0.0773.

    SDSS J135647.30+082428.0

There is a SIMBAD reference which is NE of SDSS J135647.15+082419.3 and SE of SDSS J135647.30+082428.0, positioned on the centre western edge of the east lobe. These references are the same as those cited for SDSS J135647.30+082428.0, and there doesn't appear to be a photometric object located at this position in SDSS DR14.

This ARG field doesn't appear to have been imaged in VLASS as yet.

    As always, comments, suggestions, welcome.

A complicated source, or set of sources (to work out!). I wonder if there's more than one host, making this an #overlap?

As is so often the case, higher res, deeper observations would help; I wonder if there are VLASS data for this field?
