ARG0001mmo, source between two objects?

  • NatioLuporem by NatioLuporem

Image from Aladin Sky Atlas. Contours are for AllWISE W2, yellow/orange boxes are FIRST identifiers for radio lobes. Purple Crosshair is over SDSS J145755.81+314101.7, a visibly faint galaxy with photometric z=0.965095±0.113956. The core of the FIRST radio signal appears to be seated between that galaxy and the faint object to its south at 14:57:55.745 +31:40:54.95, which has no SDSS id. I'm unsure which of these two objects might be the source of the radio lobes. Both objects were hard to make out in SDSS images, but where a bit easier to spot in DECaLS.

The catalog Double-lobed radio sources catalog (van Velzen+, 2015) gives a preference to the fainter southern red galaxy.

Using Aladin v10.076 and overlapping "First contours" on "Decals DR5" it's easier to see the probable radio source, which has no photometric object in SDSS.
