ARG00019bw, doublelobe, host?

  • ChrisMolloy by ChrisMolloy

Here's ARG00019bw, which appears to be a #doublelobe. The contour overlay below is centred on SDSS J075652.77+380949.9, which is NNE of the ARG co-ordinates listed left.

The contour overlay image in this post was created from sources, and using methods, described in this RGZ Talk
    thread.
First in red, Wise band 1 lime green.

A possible host for the emission could be SDSS J075650.36+380954.8, which has a z_sp=0.511 +/-0.00019. This object has radio references in NED and an ALLWISE reference, ALLWISE J075650.38+380954.6. There is a radio reference in SIMBAD for this emission, which is positioned on the NW lobe.

Whether this galaxy is the host of the emission is hard to determine, as it is slightly off centre from the middle of the lobes. There is always the possibility this emission could be #ifrs.

It doesn't appears this ARG field has been imaged in VLASS as yet.

    As always, comments, suggestions, welcome.

Without VLASS data I think it's impossible to tell what the host might (or might not) be.

A host which is invisible in both SDSS and WISE would be pretty remarkable ... I've certainly come across fairly bright double lobe sources which seem to be like this, but don't recall any as bright as this.

IMHO, these source cry out for further investigation ... are the hosts relatively local, but very faint, galaxies? Or very distant ones (in which case the radio luminosity would probably be off the charts)?
