RGZ gravitational lens candidates
-
by Dolorous_Edd
This thread is dadicated to the gravitational lens candidates found by RGZ <
sigh, there should be some brief introduction to the gravitational lenses and surely will be one .... someday
for now just imagine that there is.
Here is the picture of a blue shrimp, I hope that makes up for it

Very good thread, well done Dolorous_Edd! 😃
Two suggestions, if I may:
- when you post SDSS cutouts, drop the "&opt=G" at the end of the URL. That adds a grid, which I think is both unnecessary (in almost all cases) and hides/confuses some of the subtle structure you're trying to show
- DECaLS has very good images, albeit with not the same footprint (yet) as SDSS. And an excellent viewer (link)! Better, it nearly always gives higher resolution images, as well as deeper one. Plus models with residuals. If a candidate looks like a gravlens in DECaLS too, that means it more likely is.

Thanks Jean, both are helpful tips
DECaLS has very good images
Yes, it does yet I prefer to post theme in the separate thread devoted to the candidate, usually they are noisy or overexposed , models and residuals are helpful though
