radio source behind a foreground object?

  • xriz by xriz

I wasn't sure if the radio object on the right was partially obscured by a foreground object or if the bright IR object is the source, what do you guys think?

The two radio lobes are extended towards each other so likely they are part of the same structure. The IR emission is also roughly halfway between them, so it's an #hourglass. I agree that the IR emission is a little confusing: there could be a foreground source (probably the top of the IR emission halfway between radio lobes) in addition to the fainter galaxy (lower down) hosting the active black hole. Thanks for flagging this up!
