Radio emission in spiral galaxies

  • Tobend by Tobend

This appears to be a tilted disk with hints of a spiral structure. Assuming it's not a chance alignment there seems to be strong radio emission from the centre. What is most likely to be the cause? Given it's size I assume it is a well studied object?

Yes I agree that it is a nice spiral type galaxy. Since the radio emission is #compact and at the centre of the sprial galaxy, this indicates that we have an active central black hole. I would say that this is a Seyfert class sprial galaxy.

This is IC 0634 at a redshift of z=0.028. The source is in many catalogues but has not been studied in great detail.
