ARG00032qm - how to describe the radio morphology?

  • JeanTate by JeanTate

The host of the strange radio emission in ARG00032qm is z_sp 0.201 SDSS J114623.67+100457.8. The host itself is a radio source, so that part - radio morphology-wise - is #core.

The two other radio sources - both extended - are what, tails? plumes? The E one has a head-tail shape, a classic lobe with a hotspot ... but it's orthogonal to the where the jet would be, from the host! The SW extended source has a classic bent triple morphology (if somewhat asymmetric). Assuming all the above-the-noise radio emission detected by FIRST is associated with the host (but there are no other obvious potential hosts for either 'lobe', either in WISE or SDSS), how to describe the radio morphology?

Here's an SDSS image centered on the host, a pretty big (if boring) elliptical:

Here's a FIRST/SDSS contour overlay image, which doesn't do much to shed light (ha!) on the radio morphology:

The image in this post was created from sources, and using methods, described in this RGZ Talk post. The object at the center of the image is SDSS J114623.67+100457.8
