Good question!
This is a good example of where a contour overlay image (FIRST contours on an SDSS canvass) would greatly help.
If you're OK with Python, there's a thread which explains how you can create these for yourself (I'm thinking of making the 'FIRST contour overlay' Python code I wrote available to any zooite ...); if not, there's another where you can post suggestions for such an overlay (Suggestions for RGZ Objects to show with detailed FIRST contours overlaid on SDSS images). For the latter, at least two of us ordinary zooites have created such overlays (myself and ChrisMolloy), but we do so at a rather irregular pace.
