Is there anything in the radio data which might explain this straight line?

a strong fast tidal interaction can create a very straight tail of stars. Have you seen or heard of the Umbrella Galaxy in the Virgo cluster? The Umbrella galaxy (NGC4651) also has a very straight tail or plume of stars extending away from the galaxy.
