SDSS DR15

  • Explorer15 by Explorer15

When looking at the SDSS image of this star, it looks like a large planet is near the star due to is circular features and what looks like light reflecting off the surface. It could just be the image. Can someone look at this and let me know what this feature is?

When looking at the SDSS image of this star,

Which star are you referring to? Do you have the ARG field ID?

it looks like a large planet is near the star due to is circular features and what looks like light reflecting off the surface

For any image here in RGZ - WISE, FIRST, NVSS, or SDSS, and the ARG fields - no exoplanet (planet going round a star other than our Sun) would be visible as a separate object; they would be too close to the homestar to tell apart. For FIRST and NVSS, no exoplanet emits enough radio to be seen; they'd all be invisible. For SDSS, no exoplanet would be bright enough to see. For WISE, a giant exoplanet might be visible, if very far from its homestar, but I think that, so far, none have been found.

Hope this helps, and happy hunting! 😃
