very bent doublelobe

  • WizardHowl by WizardHowl

There is a faint radio sign of the jets themselves that coincides with an IR source just to the right of these plumes, rather than the brighter IR source in between them. That would make this a very #bent #doublelobe . Is the Intergalactic Medium (IGM) considered to be static or to have motions or even currents of its own? Are jets bent by refraction at the boundary between the Interstellar Medium (ISM) within the galaxy and the IGM or by their relative motion to the IGM or both? The plumes seem very symmetrical here in the direction in which they are bent, as if the host galaxy were moving rapidly to the right through the IGM.
