RGZ fields with FIRST and/or NVSS contour overlays - ToDo list (working thread)
-
by JeanTate
I've been trying to keep track of what might/would be good to do, but my offline records don't easily allow me to link to the sources (i.e. posts/threads/comments/etc here).
Hence I'll be drawing together all the various lists and posting them here. And as things change, I'll edit this post.
Please feel free to post any you think would be cool to look at!
WizardHowl:
- {more}
Dolorous Edd:
- 2MASX J02351268+1011467 (DSS2/NVSS)
- 2MASX J09470799-1338276 (DSS2/VLSS)
- 2MASX J09484033+7313244 (DSS2)

1001G:

Me:

GZF and RGZT lists of 'spirals with doublelobes' (other than those covered above):
- {}
Misc/others:
- {there are quite a few 'variations on'; e.g. zoom in, re-center}
- ARG00037b7 - WISE overlay, or FIRST on Luptonized WISE
- {more?}
UPDATE: I've separated out the ones I've done, and added a link for each. Here they are:
WizardHowl:

- http://radiotalk.galaxyzoo.org/#/subjects/ARG0000iuy an overlay might help ascertain where the emission is coming from: a wat from a disk galaxy is not something I would have thought possible! (Since a fragile disk would be shredded if it were moving through an IGM capable of bending ultra-relativistic jets to that extent). Even if these are two hourglass/doublelobes, one of them has a very odd radio morphology and there seems to be a radio bridge between them. here

- A few more overlays might be interesting, even if they are FIRST (and NVSS?) on RGB DSS2 images (of my own creation) rather than on SDSS images: PKS 0400-181, 0313-192, NGC 612/PKS 0131-36, PKS 1413+135, B2 0722+30, and PKS 1814-637 these are all on p13 of this thread

- Ledlow+ 1998 (L98) reports the discovery of 0313-192, an Eos associated with doublelobes
- Vรฉron-Cetty&Vรฉron 2001 (V01) report the discovery of the association between NGC 612, an S0 (lenticular) and the FR II radio source PKS 0131-36
- (L98) Lamer+ 1999 report observations showing the BL Lac object PKS 1413+135 is indeed the nucleus of the (local) disk galaxy
- (L98 and V01) Emonts+ 2009 "We present new observational results that conclude that the nearby radio galaxy B2 0722+30 is one of the very few known disc galaxies in the low-redshift Universe that host a classical double-lobed radio source"
- (L98 and V01) Morganti+ 2011 not doublelobes, but "We present a detailed study of PKS 1814-637, a rare case of powerful radio source [...] hosted by a disk galaxy."
Misc/others:

once twicethrice) Rather hard to understand what is going on here here - ARG0000d99 recenter DONE
- ARG00024od recenter, per WizardHowl here
- IC 2465 zoom out here
- 08 36 12.94 +26 48 13.6 - re-center, zoom in here
- variation on J084017.83 +175722.7 !!
Supposedly (per Search) it's in a thread "Chat Discussion J084017.83 +175722.7 - fading blob? in The Objects", but that thread no longer exists!?! ๐ฎIt does, and this is now done, posted in that thread

Am gonna bump this, to let the likes of Dolorous Edd, WizardHowl, 1001G, et al. know that it's still active.
Having just finished the last of the actions I wanted to do following the demise of the Galaxy Zoo forum (well, a few odds and ends left), I will be returning to this thread soon (i.e. tomorrow or the weekend).
Please add your requests/suggestions! ๐

Thanks for doing this! I shall add future suggestions by way of edits to the OP of http://radiotalk.galaxyzoo.org/#/boards/BRG0000006/discussions/DRG00006wd
I can put future suggestions here as well but currently there is just the one addition:
http://radiotalk.galaxyzoo.org/#/subjects/ARG0001iym hourglass, disturbed non-red host (added 16:44 15/07/2014)

Keeping track is becoming messy. I'm going to start a separate thread, in which all FIRST and/or NVSS contour overlays on SDSS images are listed, together with the ARG ID, as a link (from which all pages containing the composite images should be accessible) and a date. Maybe some more info too, like whether there's a galaxy near the center.
Some composites do not - yet at least - have an association with an ARG ID; these will be in a separate list.
When it's done I'll provide a link here. I expect to update the two (more?) posts in that thread as I create more composite images.
UPDATE: the thread is FIRST and/or NVSS contours on SDSS images

Another bump, to say that I've now done all those in the list, with the exception of those below the line.
So, may I repeat my offer? Do you have some field you'd like to see with a FIRST and/or NVSS contour overlaid on an SDSS image*? If so, post your request here! ๐
Do you like mysteries? Here's one: in my list there's this entry:
- variation on J084017.83 +175722.7
Now, per Search, it's in a thread "Chat Discussion J084017.83 +175722.7 - fading blob? in The Objects", but that thread no longer exists!?! ๐ฎ
So where is it?
The items I haven't yet done all involve DSS2 as background image, and/or a radio survey other than FIRST or NVSS:
- 2MASX J02351268+1011467 (DSS2/NVSS) - Dolorous Edd
- 2MASX J09470799-1338276 (DSS2/VLSS) - Dolorous Edd
- 2MASX J09484033+7313244 (DSS2) - Dolorous Edd
- ARG00037b7 - WISE overlay, or FIRST on Luptonized WISE (me)
- {the several 'from the literature' items}
*radio surveys other then those two, and/or 'background' images other than SDSS are also welcome; however, it may be a while before I can get around to producing those (I've still got quite a bit of work to semi-automate doing such overlays).

Search is having problems. I get different results when I reload page. The link to the missing discussion on the fading source is

Well, now here's a new mystery ... I tried to add a post to that thread, by responding to one of mine ... and a completely new thread was created! ๐ฎ
