Radio Galaxy Zoo Talk

A possible BlackHole

  • DaikiHikari by DaikiHikari

So I went to the black hole section and came across as to what I should look for. Then I transferred over to Galaxy zoo to look at radio and infrared. Towards the middle right is what i am talking about. Wondering if I'm correct on this assumption.

    Welcome to RGZ, DaikiHikari! 😃

There is a clearly defined radio source in the center of the image, its shape is #hourglass. The faint patch you can see center-right is a patch of radio emission that is not strong enough to be considered more than noise (otherwise it'd have contours around it).

There is a super-massive black hole associated with the radio emission in the center; however, the galaxy it's at the center of is too faint (likely because it's too far away) to be detected in SDSS, but it is detected in WISE (it's the faint yellowish blob just to the left of the main radio contour).

Hope this helps, and happy hunting! 😃
